The BALAX 11287-TIN is a thread forming tap designed for cutting 6-32 UNC internal threads in blind hole applications. Unlike cutting taps, thread forming taps displace material rather than removing chips, producing stronger threads with a burnished finish. Built from high-speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this tap handles the friction and heat generated in close-tolerance blind hole work. The bottoming chamfer style with 2.5 chamfered threads allows threading close to the bottom of a blind hole. Overall length is 2 inches, with a thread length of 0.45 inches and a tapping depth of 0.6875 inches. Series BXB, H7 thread limit.

This tap is used in precision machining, assembly, and fabrication environments where 6-32 UNC threaded blind holes are required in ductile materials such as aluminum, mild steel, brass, and similar machinable metals.
