That combination of geometry and steel hardness allows the tool to shave bark and wood accurately with minimal applied force. Wood handles provide a secure two-handed grip during use. A blade protector is included to maintain edge sharpness during storage and to reduce handling risk between uses. The blade can be resharpened with a whetstone when needed.
