The B38;K LLC 423-040 is a 0.5-inch x 4-inch polyethylene Schedule 40 pipe nipple used in low-pressure plumbing and fluid-transfer applications. This close-cut nipple provides a rigid threaded connection between pipe sections or fittings in residential and light commercial systems. Schedule 40 wall thickness meets standard pressure ratings for general-purpose supply and distribution lines. Plumbers and pipefitters install this nipple when extending runs, connecting valves, or transitioning between fixtures. At 0.05 pounds, it is lightweight and easy to handle during installation.
This nipple fits standard 0.5-inch NPT threaded systems and is suited for use in potable water supply lines, irrigation manifolds, pump discharge connections, and general plumbing rough-in work. Its 4-inch length covers common short-run extensions where a close nipple would be insufficient. The polyethylene material offers resistance to corrosion and moderate chemical exposure, making it a practical choice in both indoor mechanical rooms and outdoor utility installations.
Designed as a standard replacement or new-install nipple for 0.5-inch NPT threaded plumbing systems conforming to Schedule 40 specifications.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters in accordance with local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before threading or removing any fittings. Apply thread sealant tape or pipe compound to male threads before assembly. Do not over-torque polyethylene fittings, as excessive force can crack or distort the threading.
