The AY MCDONALD 76104 is a 1-1/2 inch straight ball valve curb stop built in a Minneapolis pattern body from no-lead brass. It is designed for water service line shutoff applications in municipal and residential water works systems. The PTFE-coated brass ball is supported by two blow-out proof EPDM seals, delivering bubble-tight shutoff at up to 300 PSIG water pressure. The end piece joint is sealed with an EPDM O-ring and thread locker for a secure, leak-resistant connection. Both inlet and outlet connections are flare-type, sized at 1-1/2 inches. Licensed plumbers and water works contractors typically install this valve.
This curb stop is suited for straight-run water service installations where a Minneapolis pattern body configuration is required. It is used in residential and light commercial water distribution systems, typically installed at or near the curb box to control water flow to a structure. The 90-degree operating head rotation provides a clear open or closed indication. The valve offers positive shutoff from either direction, making it adaptable to various installation orientations. It falls within the Water Works product line, Commercial Category of Curb Stops.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation curb stop for 1-1/2 inch flare x flare water service line applications following the Minneapolis pattern body configuration in Water Works systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off water supply pressure completely before removing or installing the valve. Flare connections require properly prepared flare ends and should be inspected for clean, undamaged seating surfaces before assembly. Do not use pipe dope or tape on flare joints; use only approved flare fittings and ensure connections are torqued according to local code requirements.
