The AY MCDONALD 4423-392 is a reducing poly insert tee designed for use in PEX-A tubing systems. It provides a branch connection in a potable water or hydronic distribution line, stepping down from a 3/4-inch run to a 1/2-inch branch outlet. The barbed insert design locks into PEX-A tubing when secured with a crimp ring or clamp ring, creating a leak-resistant joint without soldering or threading. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in residential and light commercial water supply systems where PEX-A tubing is the specified pipe material.
This fitting is suited for residential hot and cold water distribution lines as well as hydronic heating branch connections. The 3/4-inch by 3/4-inch by 1/2-inch configuration is commonly used at manifold takeoffs, fixture branch points, and zone supply splits where flow is being reduced to a smaller downstream line. It is intended for use exclusively with PEX-A tubing, where the expansion or barb-and-clamp method is the standard joining technique.
Designed as an OEM-style insert fitting for PEX-A tubing systems in residential and light commercial water supply and hydronic piping applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC standards. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting into existing tubing. Use a properly sized PEX crimp ring tool or clamp ring tool to secure the fitting to the tubing ends. Inspect each barbed connection for full seating before restoring system pressure.
