The ATKORE 500g5ingalvconduit is a galvanized steel rigid metal conduit (RMC) designed for the protection and routing of electrical conductors in commercial, industrial, and heavy-duty residential installations. At a 5-inch trade size with a 0.245-inch wall thickness and a 5.563-inch outer diameter, this conduit delivers the structural integrity required in demanding environments. Each stick runs 10 feet in length. The hot-dip galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance for both exposed and concealed applications. Licensed electricians install rigid metal conduit where code or environmental conditions demand the highest-rated mechanical protection for wiring systems.
This conduit is suited for large commercial and industrial electrical distribution systems where 5-inch trade size is required to accommodate high conductor fill counts or large-gauge feeder and service entrance wiring. Typical applications include main service entry, large equipment feeders, and exposed runs in manufacturing facilities, utility rooms, mechanical spaces, and infrastructure projects. It is appropriate for dry, wet, and damp locations when properly installed with listed fittings and supports.
Designed as an OEM-style rigid metal conduit section compatible with standard 5-inch trade size RMC fittings, couplings, and conduit bodies per applicable NEC requirements.
Rigid metal conduit must be installed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NFPA 70 (NEC) Article 344 and all applicable local codes. De-energize all circuits and lock out power sources before working in any conduit system. RMC requires listed fittings and supports at intervals specified by code; cut ends must be reamed and deburred before pulling conductors. Field bending requires an appropriate conduit bender or hydraulic bender rated for this trade size.
