The ATCO RUBBER PRODUCTS FD-7X25-R8FB is a 7-inch diameter, 25-foot flexible air duct with R8 insulation, designed for low-to-medium operating pressure HVAC applications. The inner core is air-tight and constructed to minimize air leakage in supply and return duct systems. The outer jacket is a metallized polyester film reinforced with a tri-directional fiberglass scrim, providing durability and resistance to tearing during installation. This duct is UL 181 listed as a Class 1 Air Duct, meeting the fire and smoke safety requirements required on most commercial and residential mechanical projects. Licensed HVAC technicians and sheet metal contractors are the primary installers.
This flexible duct is suited for residential and light commercial HVAC installations where a flexible run is needed between a rigid trunk line and a diffuser or grille. It is commonly used in attic, crawlspace, and dropped-ceiling installations where routing around framing or obstructions is necessary. The R8 insulation rating makes it appropriate for unconditioned spaces where thermal loss must be minimized to meet energy code requirements. The 25-foot bag length provides enough material for most branch runs without splicing.
Designed as an OEM-style flexible duct solution for residential and light commercial HVAC supply and return branch runs requiring a 7-inch diameter, R8-insulated duct.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with SMACNA guidelines and local mechanical codes. Power down the air handling system before connecting or disconnecting any duct sections. Secure both ends with approved draw bands and mastic or UL 181-listed tape — never use standard cloth duct tape on flexible duct connections. Avoid sharp bends and excessive compression of the duct body, as both reduce airflow and effective R-value.
