The ATCO RUBBER PRODUCTS FD-5X25-R6FB is a 5-inch diameter, 25-foot flexible air duct with R-6 insulation, engineered for low-to-medium pressure supply and return applications in residential and light commercial HVAC systems. The outer jacket is constructed from a tri-directional fiberglass scrim reinforced, metallized polyester — a durable, vapor-resistant shell that protects insulation integrity across a full 25-foot run. The R-6 thermal rating delivers improved energy retention compared to standard R-4 flex duct, making it appropriate for longer duct runs and conditioned spaces where heat gain or loss is a concern. Licensed HVAC technicians and sheet metal contractors are the primary installers of this product.
This flexible duct is suited for residential forced-air heating and cooling installations as well as light commercial retrofit and new-construction projects. It fits standard 5-inch round duct fittings, collars, and takeoffs found in central air systems. The ATCO 030, 036, and 031 product line — of which this duct is part — is manufactured to UL 181, Class 1 Air Duct standards, qualifying it for use in systems requiring listed and labeled duct materials per current mechanical and energy codes. It is packaged in a bag format for easy job-site handling and storage.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-construction flexible duct for residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC systems requiring 5-inch round duct connections at low-to-medium static pressure. Part of the ATCO 030, 036, and 031 UL 181 Class 1 flex duct product family.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or sheet metal contractor in accordance with SMACNA flexible duct installation standards and applicable local mechanical codes. Power down and lock out the air handler or furnace before making any duct connections. Flex duct must be fully extended without sharp bends or compressions to maintain rated airflow and thermal performance — avoid kinking or coiling the duct during installation. Secure to fittings with an approved draw band and mastic or foil tape listed for use with flexible duct per local code requirements.
