The ATCO RUBBER PRODUCTS 010-R8_6X5FT is a fiberglass pipe insulation sleeve rated R8, designed for indoor HVAC applications where thermal efficiency and vapor control are critical. The sleeve combines a thick fiberglass insulation blanket with a reinforced metalized polyester vapor barrier jacket. It ships in flat, 5-foot sections, which reduces cutting labor on the jobsite and in the shop. Rated for temperatures from -20 degrees F to 250 degrees F, it handles the full range of conditions found in residential and light commercial duct and pipe systems. A starter cap is included for a clean, complete installation.
This sleeve is intended for indoor use on HVAC pipe runs where a pre-cut, pre-jacketed insulation solution is preferred over field-wrapping with duct wrap. The 5-foot section length is sized to reduce waste and speed up installation on straight pipe runs. Typical applications include supply and return air pipe insulation in attics, crawlspaces, basements, and mechanical rooms. The reinforced metalized polyester jacket provides a finished vapor barrier surface without requiring a separate jacketing step, making it well-suited for production installs where labor efficiency matters.
Designed for indoor HVAC pipe insulation applications on 6-inch pipe. Meets UL 181B standards for use in HVAC systems. Compatible with typical residential and light commercial indoor pipe and duct configurations where a flat, pre-jacketed fiberglass sleeve is specified.
Installation is typically performed by licensed HVAC technicians. Power down the HVAC system and allow all surfaces to reach ambient temperature before handling or cutting insulation materials. Secure sleeve seams and terminations per the manufacturer instructions and applicable SMACNA or local mechanical code requirements. Do not compress the fiberglass blanket during installation, as compression reduces the effective R-value of the insulation.
