The ATCO RUBBER PRODUCTS 010-R6_6X5FT is a fiberglass pipe insulation sleeve designed for indoor HVAC applications. It delivers an R6 thermal resistance value using a thick fiberglass insulation blanket wrapped in a reinforced metalized polyester vapor barrier jacket. The sleeve is supplied in a flat, 5-foot section measuring 6 inches in diameter, sized for direct field installation on round ductwork or pipe runs. Each section is pre-cut to 5 feet, eliminating the need for in-shop or jobsite trimming. Licensed HVAC technicians and sheet metal installers are the primary end users for this type of product. The rated temperature range spans from -20 degrees F to 250 degrees F, making it suitable for both supply and return applications in typical forced-air systems.
This sleeve is intended for indoor HVAC system installations where pipe or duct runs require thermal insulation and vapor control. The flat blanket format wraps around round pipe and secures in place without the bulk associated with traditional duct wrap rolls. Pre-cut 5-foot lengths reduce labor time on the job by removing the measuring and cutting steps common with roll-form insulation. A starter cap is included to allow clean, sealed termination at open pipe ends. The product meets UL 181B standards, which is the applicable certification for closure systems used with flexible air ducts and flexible air connectors.
Designed as an OEM-style insulation sleeve for 6-inch round pipe and ductwork in indoor residential and light commercial HVAC systems where R6 insulation and a vapor barrier jacket are required.
Installation is typically performed by licensed HVAC technicians or sheet metal installers. Power down and lock out the HVAC system before beginning any ductwork insulation work. Secure all seams and closures with UL 181B-rated tape or mastic as required by local mechanical codes and ASHRAE standards. Do not compress the fiberglass blanket during installation, as compression reduces the effective R-value.
