The ATCO RUBBER PRODUCTS 010-R4.2_16X5FT is a flat-style fiberglass pipe insulation sleeve designed for 16-inch pipe and supplied in 5-foot sections. It achieves an R-4.2 thermal resistance value using a thick fiberglass insulation blanket bonded to a reinforced metalized polyester vapor barrier jacket. Rated for temperatures from -20 degrees F to 250 degrees F, this sleeve is built for indoor HVAC system applications where consistent thermal performance and vapor control are required. A starter cap is included. HVAC technicians and mechanical insulation installers use this product to reduce heat gain and loss on large-diameter piping while controlling condensation.
This sleeve is intended for indoor HVAC system use on 16-inch pipe. The flat blanket format ships in pre-cut 5-foot lengths, which eliminates the need for in-shop or jobsite cutting that is otherwise required when working with continuous duct wrap rolls. This reduces labor time on the installation and minimizes material waste. The reinforced metalized polyester vapor barrier jacket provides a durable outer surface that resists moisture intrusion, making it suitable for both supply and return piping in commercial and larger residential mechanical systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit insulation sleeve for 16-inch indoor HVAC system piping where a flat fiberglass blanket with vapor barrier jacket is specified.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or qualified mechanical insulation contractors. Shut down the HVAC system and allow piping to reach ambient temperature before applying insulation. Wrap the flat sleeve around the pipe, secure all seams and edges per the manufacturer instructions, and use the included starter cap to terminate the end properly. Work must comply with applicable local mechanical codes and any referenced ASHRAE or SMACNA insulation requirements.
