The ASTRIA F4981 is a mid-size direct vent natural gas fireplace from the Gemini DLX collection, designed for residential installation where efficient, zone-specific heating is the goal. Operating at a rated output of 32,000 BTU/h with a modulating range down to 17,000 BTU/h, it delivers flexible heat control for living rooms, family rooms, and similar spaces. The unit measures 40.88 inches wide, 41.25 inches tall, and 18.5 inches deep, with a shallow depth profile that reduces the required floor space during rough-in. Millivolt and electronic ignition configurations are available. The electronic ignition version includes an IPI/CPI switch and a seamless battery backup for continued operation during a power outage. A factory-installed, six-speed blower and a full-function remote control are included.
The F4981 is suited for residential direct vent applications where a combo top or rear flue configuration is required. The 40-inch model sits within the Gemini DLX line alongside 35-inch and 45-inch variants, making it the mid-size option for installations where the smaller footprint of a 17-inch nominal depth matters. The unit ships with a high-definition ceramic fiber log set and heavy-duty grate. Interior selections include black reflective porcelain or ceramic fiber liners. Face options consist of a Vista inside-fit facade or several Designer overlap-fit facades. Mood-enhancing interior illumination with six settings is included for aesthetic control independent of the flame.
Designed for use with natural gas supply in residential direct vent fireplace applications. Face selections and interior liner options must be specified at time of order, as noted in the Gemini DLX product line requirements. Consult the installation manual for approved vent system components compatible with the top and rear flue configurations.
Installation must be performed by a qualified technician in accordance with local building codes, the National Fuel Gas Code (NFGC), and all applicable regional requirements. Shut off the gas supply at the source before beginning any service or installation work. The combo top/rear vent configuration requires selection of the appropriate termination kit; do not mix vent components from unapproved manufacturers. Verify the gas supply line, pressure, and meter capacity before commissioning the appliance.
