The ASSOCIATED SPRING RAYMOND 204-824 is a heavy-duty die spring manufactured from chromium alloy steel and rated for demanding tooling and press applications. It features a trapezoidal wire cross-section, which increases the load-bearing surface compared to round wire, allowing for a higher spring rate within a compact envelope. The 204-824 carries a spring rate of 456.81 N/mm and delivers a maximum deflection load of 4560 newtons at full travel. The blue color designation identifies this spring within a standardized load classification system used across ISO-specified die spring families. Licensed tool and die makers, press technicians, and machine maintenance personnel are the typical installers.
This die spring is designed for use in stamping dies, injection molds, jigs, and fixtures where consistent, repeatable force over a precise travel range is required. The 50 mm hole diameter accepts a guide post or housing bore, and the 25 mm rod diameter references the inner guide rod that keeps the spring aligned under compression. With a free length of 152 mm and a maximum deflection of 57 mm, it suits medium-to-large tooling assemblies in both production and prototype environments. Industrial fabrication shops, automotive stamping operations, and plastics tooling facilities are common installation settings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct fitment die spring for tooling assemblies requiring a 50 mm bore diameter, 25 mm guide rod diameter, and 152 mm free length per ISO 10243 specifications.
Installation is performed by tool and die makers or press maintenance technicians. The press or mold must be fully de-energized and relieved of hydraulic or mechanical pressure before replacing any die spring. The spring should be seated squarely on its guide rod with no lateral misalignment, as off-axis loading accelerates fatigue and reduces service life. Do not compress the spring beyond its rated maximum deflection of 57 mm, as operating past the travel-to-solid load limit will cause permanent set or premature failure.
