The ASSOCIATED SPRING RAYMOND 204-632 is a medium-duty die spring designed for use in stamping dies, presses, and tooling fixtures where consistent, repeatable force is required. Built from chromium alloy steel with a trapezoidal wire cross-section, this spring delivers higher load capacity per unit length compared to round-wire springs of the same diameter. The blue color coding identifies it as a medium-duty rating per ISO 10243 standards. With a free length of 8 inches (203 mm) and a maximum deflection load of 493.77 pounds, it handles demanding cyclic applications in industrial tooling environments. Installation is typically performed by toolmakers, die setters, or maintenance machinists.
This die spring is suited for rectangular and round die sets used in metal stamping, punching, forming, and stripping operations. The 1.26-inch (32 mm) hole diameter and 0.63-inch (16 mm) rod diameter allow it to seat over standard guide rods in press tooling. With a travel-to-solid of 3 inches (76 mm), it provides predictable stroke control across the full deflection range. Industrial maintenance technicians and toolroom professionals working with progressive dies, compound dies, or single-operation press tooling will find this spring a direct-fit replacement for worn or broken components.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement die spring for medium-duty stamping and forming tooling applications using guide rods with a nominal 0.63-inch (16 mm) diameter and spring pockets with a nominal 1.26-inch (32 mm) bore, conforming to ISO 10243 medium-duty specifications.
Die springs should be installed by qualified toolmakers or die setters with the press locked out and energy isolated per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Inspect the guide rod and spring pocket bore for wear or scoring before installing a replacement spring. Never exceed the rated maximum deflection during operation, as running a die spring to solid will accelerate fatigue failure. Preload the spring to the tooling designer's specified preload length before securing retaining hardware.
