The ASSOCIATED SPRING RAYMOND 204-407 is a heavy-duty die spring engineered for use in stamping dies, molds, and tooling fixtures. It features a trapezoidal wire cross-section, which increases the load-bearing surface area compared to round-wire springs and delivers a higher spring rate in a compact envelope. The 204-407 has a free length of 1-3/4 inches (44.00 mm), a rod diameter of 10.00 mm, and a hole diameter of 20.00 mm. It carries a spring rate of 271.23 N/mm and is manufactured from chromium alloy steel with a blue color coding that identifies its load class. Licensed HVAC, tooling, and mechanical tradespeople install this spring in progressive die and injection mold assemblies.
This die spring is suited for light-to-medium load tooling applications in industrial press and mold environments. The blue color designation indicates a light load rating within the ISO 10243 die spring classification system. It is appropriate for residential and commercial tooling applications where consistent return force, controlled deflection, and dimensional precision are required. The 204-407 fits standard 20.00 mm die spring pockets and 10.00 mm guide rods used in press tool and mold plate assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement die spring for standard 20.00 mm bore die spring pockets with 10.00 mm guide rods, conforming to ISO 10243 dimensional and load specifications.
Die spring installation should be performed by qualified toolroom technicians or mechanical tradespeople with the press or mold fully de-energized and locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Inspect the guide rod and spring pocket for wear, burrs, or corrosion before seating the spring. Do not exceed the rated maximum deflection of 16.50 mm, as over-compression will permanently set the spring and reduce service life. Consult applicable tooling design standards for preload and pocket depth requirements specific to the die assembly.
