The ASSOCIATED SPRING RAYMOND 204-148 is a heavy-duty die spring engineered for use in stamping dies, presses, and tooling fixtures where consistent, repeatable force is required. Built from chromium alloy steel with a trapezoidal wire cross-section, this spring delivers higher load capacity and longer service life compared to standard round-wire springs. It carries a free length of 12 inches (305 mm), a rod diameter of 5 mm, and a hole diameter of 10 mm. The blue color designation indicates its load category within the ISO 10243 die spring classification system. This part is installed by tooling engineers, die makers, and press maintenance technicians.
The 204-148 is suited for industrial press tooling, injection mold assemblies, and metal stamping applications where precise spring travel and repeatable load characteristics are critical. With a maximum deflection of 116 mm and a maximum deflection load of 185.60 N, it is appropriate for light-to-medium load tooling setups. Its ISO 10243 compliance makes it a direct-fit replacement in applications specifying international standard die spring geometry. Both OEM tooling builds and aftermarket die maintenance are common use cases.
Designed as an ISO 10243-compliant die spring for use in stamping dies, press tooling, and mold assemblies requiring a 10 mm hole diameter, 5 mm rod diameter, and 305 mm free length with a blue light-load classification.
Die spring replacement is performed by qualified tooling technicians or die maintenance personnel. The press or tooling fixture must be fully de-energized, de-pressurized, and locked out before spring removal or installation. Verify that the rod diameter and hole diameter clearances match the tooling bore and guide rod dimensions before seating the spring. Do not compress the spring beyond its rated maximum deflection of 116 mm, as exceeding travel-to-solid load limits accelerates fatigue failure.
