The ASSOCIATED SPRING RAYMOND 106-820 is a heavy-duty die spring designed for use in stamping dies, punch press tooling, and other high-cycle compression applications in industrial and manufacturing environments. Built from chromium alloy steel with a trapezoidal wire cross-section, this spring delivers a maximum deflection load of 2,160 pounds and a spring rate of 1,804 pounds per inch. The green color coding indicates a heavy load class per standard die spring classifications. With a 2-inch hole diameter, 1-inch rod diameter, and 5-inch free length, it fits a defined range of die sets and tooling assemblies. Installation and replacement are typically performed by tool and die makers or maintenance machinists.
This die spring is suited for compression applications in stamping dies, injection mold tooling, jigs, and fixtures where consistent, high-load spring force is required across many cycles. The heavy load rating makes it appropriate for production tooling operating under significant press tonnage. The standardized hole and rod diameter dimensions allow it to seat on a guide rod or within a counterbored pocket in a die set without custom fitment work. Both OEM tooling builds and maintenance replacement scenarios are common use cases for this spring.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-build component for stamping die sets and press tooling that require a 2-inch hole diameter, 1-inch rod diameter, heavy-load die spring with a 5-inch free length.
Die springs should be installed by qualified tool and die makers or maintenance machinists familiar with press tooling safety procedures. Always de-energize and lock out the press before removing or replacing springs in a die set. Do not compress the spring beyond the rated maximum deflection of 1.25 inches, as over-compression will reduce cycle life and can cause failure. Inspect the guide rod and counterbore pocket for wear or damage before installing a replacement spring.
