The ASSOCIATED SPRING RAYMOND 103-712 is a heavy-duty die spring engineered for use in stamping dies, punch presses, and industrial tooling applications. It features a 1-1/2 inch hole diameter, a 3/4 inch rod diameter, and a 3 inch free length. The trapezoidal wire cross-section delivers higher load capacity within a compact envelope compared to round-wire springs of similar dimensions. At maximum deflection of 1.5 inches, this spring handles a peak load of 540 pounds. The blue color coding identifies it as a heavy-load-class spring in accordance with standard die spring classification conventions. Manufactured from chromium alloy steel for durability under high-cycle fatigue conditions.
This die spring is suited for use in metal stamping operations, injection mold tooling, and industrial press equipment where consistent, repeatable spring force is required. It fits standard spring pockets in progressive dies, blanking dies, and forming dies. The 3 inch free length and 360 pounds-per-inch spring rate make it appropriate for medium-to-heavy-duty tool and die setups in both production manufacturing and job shop environments. Installation is typically performed by toolmakers, die setters, and maintenance machinists.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit die spring for standard spring pockets requiring a 1-1/2 inch hole diameter and 3/4 inch rod diameter in heavy-load class tooling applications.
Die springs should be installed by qualified toolmakers or die setters with the press or tooling fully de-energized and locked out per applicable LOTO procedures. Ensure the spring pocket depth and rod clearance match the specified hole and rod diameters before installation. Never compress a die spring beyond its rated maximum deflection of 1.5 inches, as over-compression causes permanent set and premature failure. Inspect mating components for burrs or misalignment that could cause uneven loading or accelerated wear.
