The ASHLAND WATER GROUP SPC-250 is a plastic inline sump check valve designed to prevent backflow in sump pump discharge lines. Built from durable thermoplastic, it threads directly onto a 1-1/2 inch male pipe thread (MPT) discharge connection. The valve allows two installation methods: for permanent installations, a 1-1/2 inch PVC slip coupler can be PVC-welded directly to the valve body; for temporary installations, a flexible discharge hose can be clamped to the 1-1/4 inch barbed outlet. Plumbers and pump installers use this valve in residential and light commercial sump pit systems to maintain prime and stop reverse water flow when the pump shuts off.
The SPC-250 fits into sump pump discharge configurations where a reliable inline check valve is needed at the pump outlet. It is suited for residential basement sump systems and crawl space drainage setups. The thermoplastic construction resists corrosion in wet environments, making it appropriate for continuous submersion-adjacent service. Both permanent PVC-welded piping runs and temporary hose-based installations are supported by the dual connection design on this single valve body.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation check valve for residential and light commercial sump pump discharge systems using 1-1/2 inch MPT discharge connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pump technicians. Disconnect power to the sump pump at the circuit breaker before beginning any work on the discharge line. For permanent installations, follow solvent-weld procedures per IPC guidelines and allow full cure time before restoring power. For temporary hose connections, secure the hose clamp firmly to the 1-1/4 inch barb to prevent blow-off under pump pressure.
