The ASHLAND WATER GROUP PS2040 is a 20/40 psi pressure switch designed for automatic operation of jet and submersible well pumps. It monitors system pressure and signals the pump to start at 20 psi and stop at 40 psi, maintaining consistent water pressure throughout the system. The switch is intended for use with diaphragm pressure tanks and galvanized pressure tanks. Licensed plumbers and well pump technicians are the primary installers of this component in residential and light commercial water supply systems.
This switch is suited for residential well water systems where reliable automatic pump cycling is required. It works alongside a pressure tank to reduce pump short-cycling and maintain steady delivery pressure. Typical installations include shallow well jet pump setups and deep well submersible pump systems where a cut-in and cut-out pressure range of 20 to 40 psi is the specified operating target.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement pressure switch for residential jet pump and submersible well pump systems when used in conjunction with a diaphragm pressure tank or galvanized tank.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified well pump technician. Shut off electrical power to the pump and relieve system pressure before removing or installing the switch. Follow applicable local plumbing codes and NEC requirements for electrical connections at the switch terminals. Do not overtighten the switch fitting, as pressure ports on these components can crack if excessive force is applied.
