The ASHLAND WATER GROUP ECD50V is a 1/2 HP cast iron vertical sump pump designed for residential and light commercial basement drainage and flood control applications. It moves up to 4400 gallons per hour and features heavy-duty cast iron construction for long-term durability in wet pit environments. A built-in overload motor protection system guards the motor against thermal damage during extended run cycles. The thermoplastic vortex impeller handles solids up to 1/2 inch, making it suitable for sumps that collect debris-laden water. A vertical float switch controls automatic on/off operation based on water level.
The ECD50V is intended for installation in sump basins measuring at least 11 inches in diameter and 24 inches in depth. It is well suited for residential sump pit applications where cast iron durability and reliable automatic operation are required. The vertical switch configuration keeps the float mechanism clear of basin walls, reducing the risk of switch hang-up in tight installations. Plumbers and general contractors typically install this pump as a primary sump drainage solution in crawl spaces and basement mechanical rooms.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new installation pump for residential sump basins with a minimum diameter of 11 inches and a minimum depth of 24 inches.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Disconnect power at the circuit breaker before handling any wiring connections. Ensure the basin meets the minimum dimensional requirements before lowering the pump into position. Verify the discharge line is properly sized and secured to prevent back-pressure or siphoning after installation.
