The ASHLAND WATER GROUP DC125 is a 1.25-inch cast iron drive cap designed to protect pipe threads during well point installation. It fits over the threaded end of a well point or pipe and absorbs hammer impact, distributing the driving force evenly so threads remain undamaged throughout the driving process. This type of drive cap is a standard tool-accessory component used in driven-well applications where a well point is pounded into the ground. It is installed and used by water well contractors, plumbers, and general contractors working on shallow groundwater systems.
The DC125 is suited for residential and light commercial driven-well installations where 1.25-inch well points or pipe sections are being driven into soil. It is placed on the threaded pipe end before driving begins and removed once the well point reaches the desired depth. Cast iron construction provides the mass and hardness needed to withstand repeated hammer blows without deforming against the threads it protects.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use drive cap for 1.25-inch well point pipe systems used in driven-well installations.
A licensed water well contractor or plumber should perform driven-well installations in accordance with applicable local codes. Thread the DC125 cap securely onto the top of the well point or pipe section before striking with a post maul or slide hammer. Remove and inspect the cap periodically during driving to confirm threads are not damaged. Do not use a drive cap that shows visible cracking or deformation, as a damaged cap can transfer uneven force to the pipe threads.
