The ASHLAND WATER GROUP AV-57 is an air volume control designed for deep well submersible pump systems. It maintains the correct air-to-water ratio inside a galvanized steel pressure tank, preventing waterlogging and preserving tank performance over time. The AV-57 features a durable plastic body with a polypropylene float, a 1/4 inch pressure gauge port, and a 1-1/4 inch male pipe thread (MPT) connection. The built-in air release valve is non-adjustable, simplifying installation and reducing the risk of miscalibration. This control is not compatible with precharged or bladder-style tanks. A licensed plumber or pump service technician is the typical installer for this type of device.
The AV-57 is intended for residential and light commercial deep well applications where a conventional galvanized pressure tank is in service. It automatically manages air charge within the tank as the pump cycles, keeping the system operating within proper pressure ranges. This part is sold in packages of 3 units, making it practical for service contractors stocking multiple jobs or performing scheduled maintenance across several sites.
Designed for use with deep well submersible pump systems paired with conventional galvanized pressure tanks. Not for use with precharged or bladder-type pressure tanks.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pump technician. Shut off power to the pump and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any pressure tank fittings. Apply appropriate thread sealant to the MPT connection per standard plumbing practice. Verify the tank type before installation — this control is not suitable for precharged tanks and must not be used in those applications.
