The ASHCROFT 96231 is an analog pressure gauge designed for industrial and mechanical system monitoring where reliable, readable pressure indication is required. Featuring a 4.5-inch dial face and a 0 to 1000 psi range, this gauge delivers 0.5% of scale accuracy, making it suitable for demanding process and HVAC applications. The thermoplastic case provides resistance to corrosion and impact without the added weight of stainless or brass housings. It is a no-fill, dry gauge — no liquid dampening — so it is best suited for environments with steady or moderate pressure fluctuation. Installation is handled by licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and pipefitters.
This gauge is applicable in commercial and light industrial settings where rear panel or surface mounting is required. The rear flange mount configuration allows the gauge to be mounted flush to a panel or bracket with the process connection entering from the back, keeping the dial face clean and forward-facing. The 0.5-inch threaded connection interfaces with standard instrumentation ports on pressure vessels, boilers, pumps, compressors, and piping systems. No liquid fill means routine calibration checks are straightforward without the handling concerns associated with glycerin-filled gauges.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation gauge for systems with a standard 0.5-inch rear-threaded process connection requiring a rear flange mount configuration.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber, pipefitter, or HVAC technician following applicable codes including ASME B40.100 for pressure gauge installation. Depressurize and isolate the system completely before removing or installing any pressure gauge. Use an appropriate thread sealant on the process connection threads and avoid over-tightening, which can crack the thermoplastic case. Do not install this dry gauge on systems with severe pulsation or vibration without a pulsation dampener or snubber.
