The ASCO 8214G251 AC 120/60 D is a 2-way, normally closed gas safety shutoff solenoid valve designed for fuel gas applications in commercial and residential heating systems. Operating on 120/60 VAC line power, this valve holds a closed position when de-energized, automatically cutting off gas flow on power loss — a critical safety function in burner management and gas appliance control. The aluminum body keeps weight low while standing up to typical mechanical room environments. A Buna N seal provides reliable compatibility with fuel gas media up to 125 degrees F.
This valve is installed in gas supply lines where automatic shutoff is required by code or equipment design. Typical applications include gas furnaces, boilers, commercial cooking equipment, and other fuel-burning appliances that require a supervised safety shutoff valve in the gas train. It is sized for 1-inch pipe connections using standard NPT threading. The 0 to 5 PSI pressure range covers low-pressure natural gas and LP distribution systems commonly found in residential and light commercial installations. Licensed gas technicians and HVAC mechanics are the primary installers.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation solenoid valve for fuel gas systems requiring a 2-way, normally closed, 1-inch NPT shutoff valve operating at 120/60 VAC and low-pressure gas supply conditions from 0 to 5 PSI.
Installation must be performed by a licensed gas technician or qualified HVAC mechanic in accordance with local codes and the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC). Always shut off the upstream gas supply and de-energize the circuit before servicing or replacing the valve. Verify NPT thread engagement and use appropriate thread sealant rated for gas service. Do not exceed the rated pressure range of 0 to 5 PSI on this valve.
