The ASC Engineered Solutions EXD.BML is a reducing 90-degree pipe elbow designed for threaded piping systems in plumbing, gas, and mechanical applications. Manufactured from black malleable iron and rated at 150 lb, this fitting changes direction while stepping down pipe size from 3/4 inch to 1/2 inch female NPT (FNPT) on each end. The black finish is standard for gas distribution and low-pressure steam lines. Domestically manufactured, this elbow meets the dimensional and pressure requirements expected in commercial and residential mechanical installations. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and gas technicians rely on malleable iron fittings of this class for reliable, code-compliant connections in fuel gas and water piping systems.
This fitting is suited for low-pressure steam, natural gas, propane, water, and air piping systems where a directional change and pipe reduction are needed at the same fitting location. The 150 lb pressure class makes it appropriate for residential and light commercial mechanical rooms, boiler rooms, gas supply lines, and general-purpose threaded piping assemblies. It accepts standard NPT-threaded pipe on both ends, allowing straightforward integration into existing threaded systems without specialty tools.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard 3/4 inch by 1/2 inch FNPT threaded piping systems rated to 150 lb service class.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber, pipefitter, or gas technician in accordance with applicable codes such as the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) or International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly; do not apply sealant to female threads. Inspect threads for damage before installation and do not over-tighten, as malleable iron fittings can crack under excessive force.
