The ASC Engineered Solutions EXD.BB is a hex head pipe bushing used to reduce a larger threaded pipe opening to a smaller one in a piping run. This fitting connects a 3/4-inch female thread to a 1/2-inch male thread and is rated for 150 lb service. Manufactured from malleable iron with a black finish, it provides reliable corrosion resistance and strength in low-pressure piping systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in gas, water, and air distribution systems where a reducing connection is required at a threaded joint.
This bushing is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing and gas piping applications. The hex head design allows standard wrench engagement for controlled tightening without slipping. It is commonly installed at valves, manifolds, meters, and other threaded components where 3/4-inch to 1/2-inch reductions are needed. The black malleable iron construction meets typical requirements for black iron gas piping installations.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded fitting for use in standard 150 lb malleable iron pipe systems with NPT threads in residential and commercial plumbing, gas, and air piping applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes such as the IPC or IFGC. Shut off and depressurize the system before installing or removing any threaded fitting. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten; hand-tighten and then use a wrench to bring to a firm, leak-free connection.
