The ASC Engineered Solutions D.BMC is a straight pipe coupling designed for joining two sections of threaded pipe in a continuous run. Rated at 150 lb, this fitting accepts female National Pipe Taper (FNPT) connections on both ends and is sized for 1/2 inch nominal pipe. Constructed from malleable iron with a black finish, it is suited for gas, air, and general-purpose piping systems where a durable, code-compliant threaded fitting is required. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this type of coupling as part of low-pressure distribution systems in both new construction and retrofit applications.
This coupling is commonly used in residential and light commercial gas distribution piping, compressed air lines, and industrial process piping where 150 lb malleable iron fittings are specified. The 1/2 inch nominal size makes it a standard choice for branch and main runs in smaller-diameter piping layouts. Its black finish is the conventional designation for non-galvanized malleable iron fittings used in gas service applications.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded fitting compatible with standard 1/2 inch nominal NPT pipe in 150 lb malleable iron piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable codes, including the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) for gas service or the International Plumbing Code (IPC) for water and general service. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before disassembling or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an approved pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service medium to all male threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten threaded connections, as malleable iron fittings can crack under excessive torque.
