The ASC Engineered Solutions BXA.NMC is a 150 lb rated malleable iron pipe reducing coupling finished in a galvanized coating for corrosion resistance. It connects a 1/4 inch nominal female pipe thread (FNPT) port to a 1/8 inch nominal FNPT port, making it a standard reducing fitting for transitioning between two common small-diameter pipe sizes. This is a domestically manufactured fitting suited for gas, air, water, and steam service within the 150 lb pressure class. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors use this type of fitting when downsizing pipe runs at threaded connections.
This reducing coupling is appropriate for residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC piping systems, gas distribution lines, and compressed air piping where a threaded reduction from 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch nominal is required. Its galvanized finish provides added protection in exposed or moderately corrosive environments. The fitting accepts standard tapered NPT threads on both ends and is designed for use where a concentric inline reduction is needed without introducing an offset.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 150 lb malleable iron threaded piping systems using 1/4 inch by 1/8 inch nominal FNPT connections.
This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters working on threaded pipe systems. Shut off and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly and tighten to the fitting manufacturer's recommended engagement depth. For gas service, installations must comply with applicable local codes and IFGC requirements, and joints should be tested for leaks before returning the system to service.
