The ASC ENGINEERED SOLUTIONS 8700130753 is a galvanized hex bushing used to reduce a 1-inch female pipe thread down to a 3/8-inch male pipe thread. Machined from Schedule 40 steel with a hot-dip galvanized finish, this bushing resists corrosion in wet and outdoor environments. The hex profile allows standard pipe wrenches or crescent wrenches to seat and tighten the fitting without slippage. Plumbers and pipefitters install this bushing in threaded pipe assemblies wherever a pipe size reduction is needed at a threaded connection point.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, gas distribution, fire protection, and mechanical piping systems that call for Schedule 40 threaded fittings. Typical applications include reducing branch outlets on headers, adapting valves or instrumentation ports, and transitioning between pipe runs of differing diameters. Domestic manufacture supports job specifications that require US-made materials.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded fitting for use in Schedule 40 steel pipe systems with standard NPT threaded connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC or IFGC requirements for threaded steel pipe assemblies. Shut off and depressurize the pipe system completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten; use a backup wrench on adjacent fittings to prevent stress on existing pipe joints.
