The ASC Engineered Solutions 8700129102 is a malleable black iron hex bushing used to reduce pipe size within threaded piping systems. It features a 3/4-inch male thread on the larger end and a 1/4-inch female thread on the smaller end, allowing direct in-line reduction without additional couplings. The hexagonal body provides wrench flats for secure tightening. Manufactured to conform to Fed. Spec. WW-P-471-B, ANSI B16.14 dimensional standards, and ANSI B2.1 pipe thread specifications, this bushing is suited for gas, water, and steam distribution lines in both residential and light commercial applications. Plumbers and pipefitters install it as a standard pipe reduction fitting.
This hex bushing is commonly used in gas supply lines, compressed air systems, water distribution piping, and mechanical room installations where a threaded pipe or fitting must be stepped down from 3/4-inch to 1/4-inch. The malleable iron construction handles the mechanical stress of wrench-tightening and typical system pressures encountered in trade plumbing and gas piping work. It is sold individually and is appropriate for use wherever black iron threaded fittings are specified.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard NPT threaded black iron piping systems in residential and commercial plumbing and gas distribution applications.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter. Shut off and depressurize the system before making any threaded connections. Apply approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly and tighten with a pipe wrench to the wrench flats on the hex body. All gas piping installations must comply with applicable local codes and IFGC requirements.
