The ASC Engineered Solutions 8700127858 is a 1-inch 90-degree street galvanized malleable iron elbow, also known as a quarter bend, used to change pipe direction in threaded piping systems. One end accepts a male-threaded pipe while the other end is female-threaded, allowing the fitting to connect directly to another fitting without a nipple. The galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance for use in water supply, HVAC piping, and general plumbing applications. At 0.64 pounds, it meets Federal Specification WW-P-521F and is manufactured to ANSI B-16.3 dimensional standards.
This street elbow is suited for residential and light commercial piping installations where a 90-degree direction change is required in a threaded iron pipe system. Common applications include water supply lines, steam and condensate systems, gas distribution piping, and mechanical room rough-in work. The flat banded design is standard for malleable iron fittings in these service categories. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters typically install this fitting as part of threaded black or galvanized iron pipe assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-inch threaded iron piping systems using standard NPT connections per ANSI B-2.1.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters working on threaded iron pipe systems. Shut off and depressurize the line before cutting into any existing piping. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to all male threads before assembly and tighten to a snug, wrench-tight fit — do not over-torque malleable iron fittings. Installations must comply with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code where adopted.
