The ASC Engineered Solutions 8700123550 is a 1/8-inch 90-degree malleable iron elbow, also known as a quarter bend, used to change pipe direction in threaded piping systems. Constructed from malleable iron with a flat banded finish and a black coating, this fitting meets federal and industry standards for dimensional accuracy, thread quality, and chemical and physical properties. It is a standard pipe fitting suited for low-pressure piping applications in gas, water, and steam distribution systems. Plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC mechanics routinely install this class of fitting when routing small-diameter threaded pipe through tight quarters or around obstacles.
This elbow is used in residential and light commercial installations where 1/8-inch NPT threaded connections are required. Common applications include pilot gas lines, instrumentation lines, small-bore steam and condensate systems, and compressed air distribution. The black iron finish makes it appropriate for natural gas and propane piping where a galvanized coating is not permitted by code. It is sold individually and is compatible with standard NPT threaded pipe and fittings of the same nominal diameter.
Designed for use with 1/8-inch NPT threaded pipe and fittings in standard malleable iron threaded piping systems.
This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters in accordance with the International Fuel Gas Code, International Plumbing Code, or applicable local codes. Shut off and depressurize the line before disassembly or installation. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium before making up threaded connections. Do not over-tighten, as malleable iron threads can crack under excessive torque from power tools.
