The ASC ENGINEERED SOLUTIONS 4354003200 is a 2-inch close black steel seamless extra heavy (XH) pipe nipple used in high-pressure and high-temperature piping systems. Manufactured from black steel conforming to ASTM A106B specifications, this nipple is produced without a weld seam, delivering uniform wall thickness and consistent strength throughout. The extra heavy wall designation makes it suitable for demanding industrial, mechanical, and commercial plumbing applications where standard-weight fittings are not adequate. Licensed pipefitters and plumbers install these nipples to connect threaded pipe runs in tight-clearance situations where a close nipple configuration is required.
This nipple is designed for use in steam, gas, oil, and other high-pressure fluid piping systems in commercial and industrial settings. The close configuration means the threaded ends meet with minimal unthreaded barrel, making it the right choice when space between fittings is extremely limited. It is commonly found in boiler rooms, mechanical rooms, and process piping installations. The black steel finish is standard for non-potable water, gas distribution, and steam service lines where corrosion protection is provided by the system design rather than the fitting material.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 2-inch NPT threaded pipe systems requiring extra heavy wall seamless black steel nipples.
Installation should be performed by a licensed pipefitter or plumber in accordance with applicable mechanical and plumbing codes such as the IPC or IFGC. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium before making up threads. Do not over-torque threaded connections, as black steel fittings can crack under excessive mechanical stress.
