The ASC Engineered Solutions 362013005 is a forged steel socket weld 45-degree elbow rated for Class 3000 service. Designed for high-pressure piping systems, this fitting accepts 1/2-inch pipe into its socket-weld end connection, providing a strong, permanent joint when fillet-welded by a qualified welder. Weighing 0.42 pounds, the compact forging is suited for tight-space installations where a directional change is required without sacrificing pressure integrity. Pipefitters and plumbers working on industrial, mechanical, or process piping systems rely on this class of fitting where threaded or slip joints are not acceptable.
This elbow is used in high-pressure steam, hydraulic, and process piping applications common to industrial plants, commercial mechanical rooms, and shipboard or power-generation piping. The 45-degree angle provides a gradual directional change in the line, reducing turbulence compared to a 90-degree fitting. Its forged steel construction meets the demands of elevated temperature and pressure service where cast or malleable iron fittings are not permitted by code or engineering specification.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Class 3000 socket weld piping systems using 1/2-inch pipe.
Socket weld fittings must be installed by a qualified pipefitter or welder in accordance with applicable codes such as ASME B31.1 or B31.3. De-pressurize and drain the line completely before cutting into an existing system. The pipe end should be inserted to the socket bottom and then backed out approximately 1/16 inch before welding to allow for thermal expansion during the fillet weld pass. Do not use socket weld fittings in services where crevice corrosion or trapped solids are a concern without engineering review.
