The ASC Engineered Solutions 310522404 is a black malleable iron reducing tee rated Extra Heavy (XH) for demanding plumbing and piping applications. This fitting connects in a 1 x 1/2 x 1 inch configuration with female pipe thread (FPT) on all three ports, allowing a branch takeoff at a reduced 1/2 inch connection while maintaining 1 inch flow on the run. Manufactured to ASTM A-197 material specifications and conforming to ASME B16.3 pressure rating standards, it is built for systems where standard fittings are not sufficient. Threads conform to ASME B1.20.1. The black finish is standard for gas and industrial piping applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in both residential and commercial systems.
This reducing tee is suited for black iron pipe assemblies in natural gas, propane, compressed air, and industrial fluid distribution systems. The Extra Heavy strength rating makes it appropriate for higher-pressure service lines where a standard-weight fitting would not meet code or system requirements. The FPT connections on all three ends accept standard NPT male-threaded pipe. UL and FM listings support use in fire protection and gas distribution applications where listed fittings are required by the authority having jurisdiction.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for black iron pipe systems using standard NPT threading in 1 x 1/2 x 1 inch reducing tee configurations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes, the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), or the International Plumbing Code (IPC) as required by application. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before disassembling or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service medium to all male threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten FPT connections; use a pipe wrench and follow standard trade practice for malleable iron fittings.
