The ASC Engineered Solutions 310052204 is a black malleable iron reducing tee designed for threaded pipe assemblies in plumbing and mechanical systems. The fitting connects two 1-inch female threaded ports with a 2-inch female threaded branch, allowing for directional flow splits or takeoffs in a reducing configuration. Constructed to ASTM A-197 standards for malleable iron and dimensioned to ASME B16.3, this tee carries UL and FM listings, making it suitable for fire protection and industrial piping applications. Threads conform to ASME B1.20.1 for reliable, leak-resistant connections. The fitting weighs 1.63 pounds and features a standard-strength black finish. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in commercial and residential gas, water, and mechanical piping systems.
This reducing tee is used in plumbing, HVAC hydronic distribution, gas distribution, and fire suppression piping where a threaded branch connection of a different size is required. The 1 x 1 x 2 inch configuration makes it a common choice when transitioning from a larger 2-inch main line to smaller 1-inch branch runs. Its UL and FM approvals make it appropriate for use in listed fire protection piping systems as well as standard pressure piping applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard threaded malleable iron piping systems using female pipe thread connections sized at 1 inch and 2 inch per ASME B16.3.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes, the International Plumbing Code (IPC), or the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) where applicable. Shut off and depressurize the affected piping system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly. Do not use a pipe wrench on the fitting body in a way that could crack or deform the casting.
