The ASC ENGINEERED SOLUTIONS 300151404 is a concentric reducer fitting manufactured from cast iron with a black coating finish. It transitions pipe from a 3-inch diameter down to a 2.5-inch diameter while keeping both pipe centerlines aligned, making it well suited for drain, waste, and vent (DWV) piping systems as well as industrial pipe runs where concentricity matters. At 4.40 pounds, the fitting reflects the heavy-wall construction typical of cast iron pipe components. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this type of fitting in commercial and industrial environments.
This concentric reducer is used in cast iron piping assemblies where a smooth, centered pipe transition is required. The concentric design is preferred over eccentric reducers when the pipe centerline must remain constant, such as in vertical piping runs or applications where flow symmetry is a priority. It is domestically manufactured, which may satisfy project specifications requiring domestic-origin materials on commercial construction or government jobs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for cast iron piping systems requiring a 3-inch to 2.5-inch concentric pipe reduction.
Installation of cast iron pipe fittings is typically performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC or local adopted equivalents. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting into an existing system. Cast iron fittings are commonly joined using no-hub couplings with stainless steel bands or hub-and-spigot lead and oakum joints depending on the system type. Do not over-torque no-hub coupling bands, as cast iron is brittle and can crack under excessive clamping force.
