The ASC Engineered Solutions 2DX2.BMC is a black malleable iron pipe reducing coupling rated at 150 lb, designed to connect pipes of two different nominal diameters within a threaded piping system. It accepts 2-1/2 inch nominal pipe on one end and 2 inch nominal pipe on the other, with female NPT (FNPT) threads on both ends. Malleable iron construction provides the ductility and impact resistance required for pressure piping in mechanical, industrial, and commercial applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters typically specify this fitting for gas distribution, compressed air, steam, and hydronic systems where standard 150 lb threaded fittings are called for.
This reducing coupling is suited for residential and commercial plumbing and mechanical systems that require a concentric inline transition between 2-1/2 inch and 2 inch threaded pipe runs. It is commonly installed in gas supply lines, fire protection system branches, industrial process piping, and general steam or water distribution. The black finish is standard for gas service applications and distinguishes this fitting from galvanized fittings used in potable water service.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting compatible with standard 150 lb malleable iron threaded piping systems using 2-1/2 inch and 2 inch nominal NPT pipe.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes such as the IPC, IFGC, or ASME B31 piping standards. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply listed pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape appropriate for the service medium before hand-tightening and wrench-making the connection. Do not over-tighten, as malleable iron threads can crack under excessive torque.
