Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes, including IFGC requirements for gas piping and IPC requirements for water supply. Shut off and depressurize the line before threading any fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium to all male threads before makeup. Do not overtighten threaded malleable iron fittings, as the material is not as ductile as forged steel and can crack under excessive torque.
