The ASC Engineered Solutions BXA.BMC is a malleable iron pipe reducing coupling designed to connect two pipes of different nominal diameters in a threaded piping system. It transitions from a 1/4-inch nominal female connection to a 1/8-inch nominal female connection, with both ends threaded to FNPT (Female National Pipe Taper) standard. Rated at 150 lb, this coupling is manufactured from black malleable iron, making it well suited for gas distribution, compressed air, and general-purpose industrial pipe assemblies. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting during system assembly or repair.
This reducing coupling is intended for residential and light commercial piping applications where a threaded size reduction is required without the use of a bushing. Common install scenarios include gas supply lines, air lines, and water distribution systems where a 1/4-inch to 1/8-inch transition is needed. The black finish and malleable iron construction are standard for gas piping installations per applicable codes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard 150 lb malleable iron threaded piping systems using 1/4-inch and 1/8-inch nominal pipe sizes.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) or International Plumbing Code (IPC) as applicable. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before disassembling or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or pipe tape rated for the service medium before making up threaded connections. Do not overtighten FNPT connections, as this can crack the fitting body.
