The ASC Engineered Solutions 8700129904 is a hexagon malleable black iron pipe bushing used to reduce a 2-inch male threaded pipe connection to a 1-1/4-inch female threaded opening. Malleable iron construction provides durability under mechanical stress and thermal cycling typical in gas, air, and low-pressure fluid piping systems. The hex body allows standard wrench engagement for secure make-up. This fitting meets Federal Specification WW-P-471-B, ANSI B16.14 for dimensions, and ANSI B2.1 for pipe thread form. It is installed by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians working on threaded ferrous piping systems.
This bushing is suited for residential and light commercial applications where a threaded pipe run must step down in diameter at a fitting, valve, or equipment connection. Typical use cases include gas supply piping, compressed air distribution, and water or steam systems where black iron is the specified material. The fitting ships as a single unit and is used wherever an in-line reduction between a 2-inch and 1-1/4-inch threaded line is required.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded fitting for use in malleable iron ferrous pipe systems requiring a 2-inch male to 1-1/4-inch female bushing reduction.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes and IFGC or IPC requirements. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before make-up, and tighten using a pipe wrench to achieve a leak-free joint without over-stressing the fitting. Do not use this fitting beyond the pressure and temperature ratings of the connected piping system.
