The ASC Engineered Solutions 4354002000 is a 1-inch close nipple manufactured from black steel to the A106B seamless extra heavy (XH) standard. A close nipple is a short-length threaded pipe fitting used to connect two female-threaded fittings with minimal gap between them. This nipple is fully threaded end to end, making it suitable for tight-space installations where a longer nipple would not fit. At 0.21 pounds, it is compact and purpose-built for high-pressure or high-temperature piping applications. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this type of fitting in steam, gas, and industrial fluid systems that require extra heavy wall construction.
This close nipple is used in commercial and industrial piping systems where standard-weight fittings do not meet pressure or temperature demands. The seamless A106B construction eliminates the weld seam, making it appropriate for high-pressure steam lines, compressed air systems, and industrial process piping. It is also commonly used in HVAC hydronic systems, black iron gas piping, and fire protection piping where code requires extra heavy fittings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-inch NPT threaded piping systems requiring extra heavy seamless black steel nipples in steam, gas, compressed air, or industrial fluid service.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local mechanical and plumbing codes, including ASME B31 piping standards where required. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service fluid and temperature before threading the nipple into mating fittings. Do not overtighten; use a pipe wrench with a backup wrench on adjacent fittings to prevent stress on connected components.
