The ASC Engineered Solutions 362172009 is a forged steel socketweld reducing coupling rated for 3000 lb service. It transitions between a 1.5-inch and 1-inch pipe in high-pressure piping systems using a socketweld end connection on both ends. The forged steel construction delivers the strength and pressure integrity required in demanding industrial and mechanical applications. Licensed pipefitters and plumbers install this fitting in systems where inline pipe size reduction is needed without threading. It is a standard Class 3000 fitting compliant with ASME B16.11 socketweld fitting dimensions.
This reducing coupling is suited for use in steam, hydraulic, oil, gas, and other high-pressure fluid systems found in commercial mechanical rooms, industrial plants, and process piping installations. The socketweld design allows the pipe end to be inserted into the socket and fillet-welded in place, creating a robust, leak-resistant joint. It is commonly selected where threaded connections are not appropriate and where high cycle pressures or elevated temperatures are present.
Designed as an OEM-style Class 3000 forged steel socketweld reducing coupling for high-pressure piping systems requiring an inline reduction from 1.5-inch to 1-inch pipe.
Installation of socketweld fittings must be performed by a qualified pipefitter or welder in accordance with applicable codes such as ASME B31.1 or ASME B31.3. Depressurize, drain, and isolate the piping system completely before cutting into any existing line. Insert pipe to the full socket depth and leave a small gap at the bottom of the socket before fillet welding per code requirements. Verify that the base material and filler metal are compatible with the service fluid and temperature range before welding.
