The ASC ENGINEERED SOLUTIONS 300012200 is a black cast iron reducing 90-degree elbow designed to change direction in a threaded pipe run while stepping down from a 3/4-inch to a 1/2-inch connection. Cast iron construction provides durability and resistance to mechanical stress in low-pressure piping applications. The black coating is applied at the factory and is standard for gas distribution and certain plumbing piping systems. This fitting weighs 0.49 pounds and is domestically manufactured. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting during new construction and retrofit work where a direction change and a pipe size reduction are needed at the same junction.
This reducing elbow is suited for residential and light commercial piping systems where threaded black iron pipe is used, most commonly in natural gas and propane distribution lines, as well as in some hydronic heating and fire suppression piping. It is installed wherever a single fitting must simultaneously redirect flow 90 degrees and reduce the pipe size from 3/4 inch to 1/2 inch, eliminating the need for a separate reducing coupling and elbow at the same location.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for threaded black iron pipe systems using standard NPT thread connections in 3/4-inch and 1/2-inch sizes.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes such as the IFGC or IPC. Shut off and depressurize the pipe system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service to all male threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten threaded connections, as cast iron fittings can crack under excessive torque.
