The ASC Engineered Solutions 1BXE.BMC is a black malleable iron pipe reducing coupling rated at 150 lb and designed to connect pipes of different diameters in threaded piping systems. It features female National Pipe Taper (FNPT) threads on both ends, allowing a secure, leak-resistant connection between a 1-1/4 inch and a 3/4 inch nominal pipe. This fitting is domestically produced and suited for use in gas, water, and general industrial piping applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters typically install this fitting during new construction or retrofit work where pipe size transitions are required.
This reducing coupling is commonly used in residential and light commercial piping systems where a branch or main line steps down from 1-1/4 inch nominal to 3/4 inch nominal pipe. Typical applications include natural gas distribution lines, steam systems, compressed air lines, and water supply piping. The black finish indicates it is not galvanized and is particularly well suited for gas service where galvanized fittings are not recommended.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded fitting compatible with standard 1-1/4 inch by 3/4 inch nominal FNPT threaded pipe systems rated for 150 lb service class.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes, the International Plumbing Code (IPC), or the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) for gas applications. Shut off the gas or water supply and depressurize the line before beginning work. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten, as malleable iron fittings can crack under excessive torque.
