The ARMACELL ARMA-BST25812 is a closed-cell elastomeric pipe insulation sleeve designed for mechanical piping systems requiring condensation control and thermal protection. Sized for 2-5/8 inch outside diameter pipe with a 1/2 inch wall thickness, this 6-foot section features a factory-applied lap seal adhesive strip that creates a secure, tool-free seam closure. Rated for an R-value of 3.2, it limits heat gain and energy loss on chilled water, refrigerant, and domestic cold water lines. The operating temperature range spans -297 degrees F to 220 degrees F, covering most HVAC and plumbing service conditions. Licensed HVAC technicians and plumbers are the primary installers.
This insulation sleeve fits 2-1/2 inch nominal pipe, corresponding to a 2-5/8 inch outside diameter. It is used in residential and commercial mechanical systems where condensation control is critical, including chilled water distribution, refrigerant suction lines, and cold domestic water piping. The black finish is suitable for exposed indoor mechanical room installations. The flexible lap seal construction improves seam integrity compared to butt-edge designs, reducing the risk of moisture infiltration, mold development, and thermal bridging at the joint.
Designed to fit 2-1/2 inch nominal pipe with a 2-5/8 inch outside diameter. Suitable as an OEM-style or field-applied insulation sleeve on copper, steel, CPVC, and PEX piping in HVAC and plumbing applications where the specified wall thickness and temperature range are appropriate.
Installation is typically performed by licensed HVAC technicians or plumbers as part of new construction or retrofit insulation work. Isolate and depressurize the pipe and allow it to reach ambient temperature before applying the sleeve. Slide the sleeve over the pipe or slit and wrap it around in-place piping, then press the lap seal firmly along the full length of the seam. For end joints and fittings, use a compatible elastomeric insulation adhesive to seal butted edges and prevent moisture infiltration.
