The ARMACELL ARMA-BST13812 is a flexible elastomeric pipe insulation sleeve designed for mechanical piping systems where condensation control, mold resistance, and energy retention are primary concerns. This black AP Armaflex insulation features a pre-applied lap seal along the longitudinal seam, eliminating the need for additional adhesive at that joint and delivering a tighter, more secure closure. The sleeve fits 1-3/8 inch outside-diameter pipe, carries a wall thickness of 1/2 inch, and achieves an R-value of 3.2. Each section is 6 feet long. Licensed HVAC and mechanical insulation contractors are the primary installers.
This insulation is suited for chilled water lines, refrigerant suction lines, domestic cold water piping, and other applications where surface temperatures drop below dew point. Rated for an operating temperature range of -297 degrees F to 220 degrees F, it handles a broad range of mechanical system conditions in both residential and light commercial installations. The low water absorption rate of less than 0.20 percent by volume limits moisture ingress into the insulation matrix, reducing the risk of condensation buildup and mold growth over the service life of the system.
Designed for 1-3/8 inch outside-diameter pipe, corresponding to a nominal 1-1/4 inch pipe application. Suitable as a direct-fit insulation sleeve for copper, steel, CPVC, and similar round piping of matching outside diameter in mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
Mechanical insulation contractors and licensed HVAC or plumbing technicians typically install elastomeric pipe insulation. Shut down and de-energize the piping system and allow lines to reach ambient temperature before applying insulation. Clean and dry the pipe surface before sliding the sleeve into position and pressing the lap seal seam firmly along its full length. Refer to local mechanical codes and the manufacturer application guidelines for adhesive requirements at butt joints and fittings.
