The ARMACELL ARMA-BST05812 is a closed-cell elastomeric foam pipe insulation sleeve designed for mechanical systems requiring thermal protection and condensation control. Each section measures 6 feet in length with a 5/8 inch inner diameter and a 1/2 inch wall thickness. The Lapseal design features a factory-applied self-sealing lap, eliminating the need for separate adhesive on the longitudinal seam during installation. This product is suited for insulating refrigerant lines, chilled water piping, and other cold-service pipe applications where moisture control and thermal efficiency are priorities. Licensed HVAC technicians and plumbers are the primary installers.
This insulation is intended for use on copper, steel, and plastic pipe in residential and light commercial HVAC and plumbing systems. The 5/8 inch ID accommodates standard 1/2 inch nominal copper tubing commonly used in refrigerant and hydronic lines. The carton contains 300 linear feet of material, packaged as 6-foot sections, making it practical for larger jobs and multi-unit service work where consistent coverage is needed across many runs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit insulation sleeve for 1/2 inch nominal pipe, commonly used on refrigerant suction lines, chilled water lines, and cold domestic water piping in residential and light commercial mechanical systems.
Installation is typically performed by licensed HVAC technicians or plumbers following applicable mechanical and energy codes. Before installing on active systems, shut off refrigerant flow or isolate and drain the piping as appropriate. The Lapseal seam should be pressed firmly along its full length for a complete seal on straight sections; use compatible closed-cell foam adhesive at fittings, tees, and elbows where the self-sealing lap cannot lay flat. Avoid stretching the insulation during application, as this can reduce effective wall thickness and compromise thermal performance.
