The Armacell ARMA-APT13812 is a flexible elastomeric closed-cell pipe insulation tube designed to control condensation on cold piping and reduce heat gain or loss on hot and dual-temperature systems. It ships as unslit tubing with a 1.375-inch inside diameter, 2.375-inch outside diameter, and a 0.5-inch wall thickness, yielding an R-value of R3.1. The closed-cell foam structure acts as an integral vapor retarder, significantly limiting moisture vapor transmission without requiring a separate vapor barrier in most standard-humidity indoor installations. It is sized for use with IPS and CTS pipe connections and is installed by plumbers, HVAC technicians, and mechanical insulation contractors.
This insulation is suited for residential and light commercial applications including chilled water lines, refrigerant suction lines, cold domestic water piping, hot water plumbing, and dual-temperature mechanical piping. Each section is 6 feet long. For installations in continuously high-humidity environments or on very low temperature piping, supplemental vapor retarder protection should be evaluated. Indoors, no protective finish is required. Outdoors, a weather-resistant protective finish must be applied over the insulation surface. This product is designed for above-ground installation only.
Rated for IPS and CTS pipe connections with a nominal size of 1 x 1.375 inches. Suitable as an OEM-style elastomeric insulation sleeve for cold water, hot water, chilled water, and dual-temperature above-ground piping systems where a 1.375-inch ID and 0.5-inch wall thickness is specified.
Installation is typically performed by licensed plumbers or mechanical insulation contractors following applicable mechanical code requirements. Shut down and depressurize the piping system before fitting insulation where required by site procedures. Pipe surface should be clean and dry before slipping the tubing into place. For outdoor installations, apply a compatible weather-resistant finish coat over the insulation exterior to protect against UV degradation and moisture infiltration.
